Jeff Gillman is a Clinical Psychologist who received his Ph.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University/The Medical College of Virginia. Following the completion of his clinical internship at the Indiana University School of Medicine’s Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana he remained on the faculty and taught within the Riley Child Development Center. After two years he sought additional training and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Psychology at The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Dr. Gillman then joined the faculty of the Columbus Children’s Hospital, the pediatric training hospital for The Ohio State University School of Medicine, where he was Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and the Director of the Inpatient Consultation-Liaison Service for 8 years. After moving with his family to the Seattle area in 1997, he worked for 6 years as a member of the Pediatric Psychology Service at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma, where he initiated and directed the multidisciplinary Mary Bridge Eating Disorders Program. Dr. Gillman enjoys working with older children, teenagers, and adults, and provides a range of clinical services to help empower his clients in addressing issues related to health concerns (including coping/management of both chronic and acute medical conditions), life changes, and trauma. He tends to incorporate cognitive-behavioral, solution-oriented, and family systems approaches in his work. Dr. Gillman particularly delights in teaching various methods for using mindfulness based skills, including self-hypnosis, in managing and overcoming health issues, depression, and anxiety-related difficulties.
